Youth to sensitise communities to pay tax

Winneba, Sept 26 GNA – Mr Solomon Abban-Quaye, the District Chief Executive for the Awutu-Effutu-Senya, has urged the youth to sensitise their communities on the need to honour their tax obligation to the assemblies and also ensure environmental cleanliness. Presenting certificates to 13 youth organisations in the District at Winneba, he advised them to be disciplined, law abiding and avoid the taking of hard drugs and other negative tendencies that could affect their lives.

Mr Abban-Quaye appealed to members of the organisations to get involved in activities that could improve the living conditions of their communities.

Mr Emmanuel Sodja Martey, the District Youth Co-ordinator of the National Youth Council (NYC), urged members of the organisations not to allow their socio-economic problems push them into criminal activities and immorality.

He expressed concern about the increasing rates of armed robbery, prostitution and drug abuse. Mr Martey warned that any organisation caught doing things contrary to the aims and objectives of the NYC would have its certificate withdrawn.

Mr Kwesi Esseku, the Presiding Member of the Awutu-Effutu-Senya District Assembly, appealed to members of the organisations to educate the people to be careful about their sexual behaviour to avoid contracting HIV. 26 Sept 05
