Presiding Bishop dedicates multi-purpose building

Kumasi, Sept 25, GNA – The Most Reverend Dr Robert Aboagye-Mensah, Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church of Ghana, on Sunday dedicated the 2.5 billion-cedi multi-purposes Wesley House at Adum in Kumasi built by the Wesley Cathedral.

The dedication marked the completion of the first phase of the four-storey building started in April 2004. It comprises a manse, offices, meeting halls, a lawyer’s chamber, guest rooms and a restaurant.

Funds for the project were raised through fund-raising dinners and the traditional sources of income.

Most Rev Aboagye-Mensah said work on the 45 billion cedis International Conference Centre of the church to be built at the Suame Roundabout in Kumasi would start before the end of the year. The centre, which will have a sitting capacity of about 1,500, will be run purely on business lines.

The said the church would establish a non-governmental organisation to be known as the Methodist Relief and Development Agency (MRDA). Dr Alex Odoye, a Consultant Gynaecologist at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), has donated an estate car to the Kumasi circuit of the Methodist Church for evangelism.

Presenting the keys of the car to the Most Rev Aboagye-Mensah, the Presiding Bishop of the church, Dr Odoye, said it was his contribution to the evangelisation programme of the church.
