Information Minister Denies ?419? Story

The minister for Information, Mr. Dan Botwey says there is no proof for one to believe a publication to the effect that some 419 pressmen go to the seat of government to get introductory letters and use them to collect huge sums of money from business organisations.

Mr. Botwey said those foreign journalists that have approached the government for introductory letters have so far conducted genuine business with those organisations that were ready to deal with them.

Speaking with Kwami Sefa Kayi on PeaceFM’s breakfast morning show, the information minister stated that before a letter of introduction is given to any representative of a foreign media, a thorough investigation into their background is conducted.

According to him, most of the advertisements and features that the foreign media personnel secure from their Ghanaian clients are published in their respective media. He said this has contributed immensely to the country gaining more international reputation which has also promoted business.
