KNUST introduces eight new courses

Kumasi, Sept. 17, GNA – The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has introduced eight new study programmes into its curriculum this year.

They include six Bachelor of Science (BSc) programmes namely, Post Harvest Technology, Settlement Planning, Geological Engineering, Statistics and Actuarial Science, Forestry Technology and Telecommunication Engineering.

The two others are Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Tourism and Culture and Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration.

Professor Kwesi Andam, Vice-Chancellor of KNUST announced this at the matriculation ceremony of the University in Kumasi on Saturday. In all 8,594 students were admitted out of the 16,463 applicants, with 656 of them being students from the 200 less endowed schools. Prof. Andam said as part of the University’s policy to ensure gender equity in admission between male and female, the University had adopted a strategy to facilitate the admission of more female students in recent years.

He advised the students to comport themselves and live good moral lives to enable them to pursue their academic courses without any hindrance.

“KNUST is a holy University. We believe morality is more important than anything else in life. You may obtain a first class four years now, but you stand the danger of blowing it all away if you do not create a sound moral life”, he stressed.
