Court fines 41 year old tailor for indecent assault

Bekwai (Ash), Sept 16, GNA – The Bekwai Circuit Court has imposed a two million cedi fine on a 41-year-old tailor for indecent assault. The court changed the original charge of defilement to indecent assault and explained that the police were not sure of the age of the girl and therefore that charge could not hold. Abraham Boadi pleaded not guilty.

The court ordered that one million cedis out of the fine if paid should be given to the victim.

Police Inspector E.D. Koranteng told the court that Boadi and the victim, a 14-year old pupil of the Bekwai Adventist Preparatory School, live in the same house.

In December last year, the victim went outside the house to urinate and the accused followed her and lured her into a nearby bush where he forcibly had sex with her.

The prosecution said the accused not satisfied took the girl to his room and once more had sex with her. The next day, the victim’s mother detected a change in her gait and when she questioned her she told her mother that the accused had sex with her.
