Bury political differences for sake of development

Twimia-Nkwanta (B/A) Sept. 15, GNA – Nana Boateng Ameyaw, chief of Twimia-Nkwanta in Techiman municipality has called on Ghanaians to bury political differences and live in peace to enhance national development.

He stressed that it is only when there is peace that the country can achieve marked socio-economic development.

Nana Ameyaw was addressing the chiefs and people in the area at the end of the celebration of “Formine” Yam Festival at Twimia-Nkwanta. He emphasized that peace and development had eluded places where there was political divisions and advised the youth to come together and assist traditional and political authorities to initiate projects to win government support.

Nana Ameyaw said a new palace and three boreholes had been constructed and called on the people to help establish a Junior Secondary School and extend electricity to the area. He said 28 out of 100 concrete poles needed for extension of electricity to new settlements had been erected through the people’s voluntary contributions.

Mr. Addai Simons, Member of Parliament for Techiman South, provided eight of the poles.

The chief advised the people to observe good hygiene and keep their surroundings clean to help reduce the incidence of diseases and frequent need for medical attention. The Queenmother of the area, Nana Agyeiwaa Ayiwa called on parents to send their girls to school to help improve the low enrolment and poor standard of female education in the area.
