Police investigating into theft at BOPP

Benso (W/R), Sept 12, GNA – Two suspects are helping the Police at Benso in the Western Region to investigate the theft of personal belongings at the Estate of the Benso Oil Palm Plantations (BOPP). Captain (rtd.) Kweku Twum, Security Manager of BOPP, briefing the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Benso, said the thieves invaded the estate at dawn last Monday and made away with personal belongings worth millions of cedis.

He said the items included a wall clock, loudspeaker and a quantity of detergents, 16 compact discs, four pairs of canvas boots and a pair of Wellington boots.

The Security Manager said the thieves also entered the pen of the Managing Director and killed a sheep but could not go away with carcass when security men pursued them.

He said the thieves attacked the houses of Mr Kweku Otoo, Human Resource Manager, Mr David Nunoo, Estate Officer, Mr Emmanuel Ahiable, Projects and Technical Manger, the Club House and the House of the Managing Director and made away with items.

He appealed to residents at the estate not to panic since the security unit of BOPP had put measures in place to counteract future incidents.

The Police at Benso have confirmed the theft.
