Truck Driver tested 120% of alcohol whiles driving

Tema, Sept 09, GNA – A truck driver at Tema who was arrested with 120 percent alcoholic content in his body has been sentenced to a fine of 2 million cedis by the Tema Circuit Court ‘A’.

If he fails to pay the fine the accused, Paul Yeboah, will go to jail for six months.

He pleaded guilty to the charge of driving under the influence of alcohol and was convicted on his own plea.

Chief Inspector Adulphus Otchere told the court that the accused, driving an articulated truck on September 06 on the General Hospital road, could not control the vehicle.

Personnel of the Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) on patrol stopped him and tested him with the alcohol sensor found that he had 120 percent of alcohol in his body instead of the normal 0.08 percent.
