Accommodation for GNFS staff in the offing

Amasaman (G/A), Sept. 7, GNA – The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) personnel in the Ga West District would be provided with office accommodation when the Assembly’s office complex is completed. Mr. Eric Busby Quartey-Papafio, District Chief Executive for Ga West announced this when addressing the first ordinary meeting of the Assembly on Tuesday at Amasaman.

He said GNFS has a staff of 95 personnel in the district and “they are inadequately accommodated in an uncompleted building. It is expected that with the completion of the Assembly Office Complex, the department will be allocated some offices.”

Mr Quartey-Papafio noted that there are six points of fire hydrants in the district but no water runs through them.

He said the Assembly, in collaboration with the Ghana Water Company efforts would be made to have the situation improved since replenishing of fire tenders now is extremely difficult in cases of fire outbreak, adding that the nearest life-saving hydrants are located at Tesano.
