Kufuor holds talks with Mauritania delegation

Accra, Sept. 7, GNA – President John Agyekum on Wednesday held discussions behind closed doors at the Castle, Osu, with a Mauritanian delegation on a special visit to the country.

Mr Gandega Sylli, Mauritanian Minister of Rural Development and Environment, led the delegation.

Speaking later to newsmen, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Foreign Minister, said the Mauritanians gave a comprehensive review of the political situation of their country and reasons for the recent bloodless military coup.

He said President Kufuor made clear Ghana’s position that it was against unconstitutional change of government. “Our country supports the African Union’s position not to entertain unconstitutional takeover of political power,” he said.
