Ex-Patriate enstooled Nkosuohemaah of Sekyere

Sekyere (Ash), Sept. 5, GNA – The Chiefs and people of Sekyere in the Sekyere-East District of Ashanti, have enstooled Miss Marieke De-Leede, a Dutch national, as the Nkosuohemaah of the community. Miss De-Leede, 20, was enstooled under the stool name Nana Abena Yeboah, in acknowledgement of the immense development projects she single-handedly initiated and implemented for the Sekyere community in the last two months.

Among some of the projects she initiated for the community is the extension of electricity from the township to the Sekyere Rehabilitation Centre, at the cost of 43 million cedis, the construction of a junior secondary school block and a borehole at an unspecified amount. Speaking at the enstoolment ceremony at Sekyere on Sunday, Nana Kwabena Nin II, Chief of Sekyere, commended Miss De-leede for showing practical concern for development of the community even though she was not an indigene.

He said the pace set by Miss De-leede should be emulated by influential and well-to-do indigenes to help accelerate the pace of development of the area.

Miss De-Leede lauded the chiefs and people for the honour done her by the enstoolment, saying that, the gesture alone is an ample indication of their appreciation of what she had done for them. She however, advised them to make judicious use of the facilities, since that was another way by which they could show their gratitude to her for the projects.

Nana Yaw Addo, Director of the Sekyere Rehabilitation Centre, appealed to the people not just to be contend with facilities at the centre and town, but endeavour to maintain them.
