Former ECG security officer remanded for attempted robbery

Sekondi, Sept. 3, GNA – Frankie Otoo, a 68-year-old former security officer of the Electricity Company of Ghana appeared before a magistrate’s court at Sekondi on Friday charged with attempted robbery. His plea was not taken and was remanded to re-appear on September 15.

The Police prosecutor, Sergeant Victor Amenorpe told the court that the suspect and four others went to the house of an official of the Bank of Ghana at Apowa around 0200 hours sometime last month and broke the main door in an attempt to enter the house.

The owner of the house who heard the unusual noise shouted for help and the other three accomplices fled the scene but Otoo stood his grounds and challenged the house owner to face him.

Sergeant Amenorpe said the house owner, sensing danger allowed his wife and children to escape through the back door while he continued to shout for help. The Police prosecutor said Otoo was finally arrested with the help of neighbours in the area.
