Sissala District to get facelift

Accra Aug. 30, GNA – Afro-Culture organization (ACO) a Non Governmental Organization (NGO) that advocates cultural development, is undertaking a five-billion cedi development project to give the Sissala District in the Upper West Region a face lift. The rehabilitation programme involves the improvement of sanitation, water systems and the cultural values of the district to attract tourists.

Mr Justice Dibson, Founder of the NGO said in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, on Monday that the district had been neglected by successive governments, hence the determination of ACO to reverse the situation.

ACO is collaborating with some officials of the Environmental Protection Agency to execute the project. “Afro Culture identifies with the rich culture of the Sisala people and will want to project the unique dance, food and other cultural products of the people,” he said.

Other activities to be undertaken by ACO would include a clean-up exercise and education on the domestic violence bill. Mr Dibson said the exercise was part of the organisation’s social responsibility and expressed the hope that the people would facilitate the set goals.

ACO is engaged in cultural development, advocacy, research and documentary.
