President?s Tour To Odododiodio Cancelled

The President’s planned tour of the Central Business district as part of the final leg of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) campaign for the Odododiodio by-election will not come off as initially scheduled.
In an interview with an Accra based radio station in Accra, officials of the NPP noted that the tour was called off in view of security considerations. The President’s entourage was initially scheduled to move in a convoy round certain parts of the constituency and end up at Bukom square, in the heart of Odododiodio.
This latest development follows yester night’s pre-electoral clash as Bukom between supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and NPP, after two groups of party faithfuls engaged in exchanges, which resulted in injuries to both sides. The IGP’s intended Press conference to respond to the pre-election violence has meanwhile, been rescheduled to Sunday August 28, 2005.
