Ghana Twins Foundation Honored

At a reception held on their behalf by the city of Toledo in Ohio, Zeena and Maya Abou-Joude, founders of the Ghana Twins Foundation (GTF) were honored by the Mayor of the City, Mr. Jack Ford for their remarkable role in promoting the social and economic well-being of deprived and needy twins in Ghana.

As part of their visit to the U.S, the twins also paid a courtesy call to the Embassy of Ghana in Washington DC and met with Ghana?s Representative to the U. S, Ambassador Fritz Kwabena Poku and the Deputy Chief of Mission, Mr. Isaac Aggrey.

Ghana Twins Foundation, a non-governmental organization, promotes and creates awareness of the special needs of twins and advocate for their rights for a change in socio-political and cultural practices.

As part of their objectives, GTF supports parents in raising children of multiple births as well as educate and empower them in employable skills to enable them establish income generating ventures for the upkeep of their children.

In his proclamation, the Mayor expressed his delight for their relentless role in fighting for the rights of twins as well as needy children throughout the country. He applauded their initiative and wished them success with their work.

At the Embassy, Ambassador Poku, who was enthused about their work assured them of the Mission?s support to help promote and to continue to build awareness of the foundation?s activities both in the US and in Ghana.
