Don’t associate festivals with promiscuity – Youth urged

Mankessim (C/R), Aug 29, GNA – The youth have been advised not to associate festivals with promiscuity. Mr Robert Koomson, Executive Director of the Association of Rural and Environmental Development, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) based at Mankessim who gave the advice said festivals were not meant for producing father-less children.

He cautioned females especially teenagers to know the residential and workplace addresses of men they moved with during occasions such as festivals and funerals.

Mr Koomson noted that it was wrong for girls to give themselves to men they could not locate when they were pregnant. He gave the advice at a workshop on the correct method of both male and female condom use for some youth groups from the 14 communities the organisation operated in.

Every effort should be made to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS through unprotected sex especially during festivals. The organisation provided condoms for distribution to the youth in the communities.
