Presby Church organises conference on roles or leaders

Nkoranza (B/A) Aug. 27, GNA – The management of Nkoranza District Presbyterian Church has organised a three-day conference to educate leaders and presbyters of the church on their functions, roles and responsibilities.

This is to strengthen them to lead the congregation well and manage the churches effectively and to promote their growth and development. The conference was under the theme, “Serve God willingly” and was attended by 60 participants drawn from about 25 local congregations of the church.

They were taken through topics including: “The leader as a manager”, “The pitfalls of leadership”, “How to be an effective leader” and “The importance of self-examination”.

The Reverend Kwaku Addo-Lartey, District Minister of the church asked leaders of the church to as shepherds lead morally upright lives to enable their members to emulate them.

He urged them to organise their people to initiate programmes to help the church to grow and also to enable them to improve their living standards.

Rev Addo-Lartey advised them not to place their personal interests above the development of the church or the welfare of the members but to redouble efforts to help strengthen the Presbyterian church in the district.

Christian parents should use the Bible to train and educate their wards to shun away from social vices and they would grow to become responsible citizens to serve the state.

Rev. Daniel Asomah Gyabaa, in-charge of the Nkwabeng sub-district Presbyterian church advised the presbyters to promote love, unity, peace and understanding among their members and the members would offer the needed support for all activities of the church to enhance its growth. Rev. Gyabaa also urged the leaders of the church to show love and have fellow feeling for their members so as to sustain their interests in the church and they as leaders would also command respect from them. He cautioned the youth of the church to guard against pre-marital and illicit sexual practices so as to free themselves from contracting HIV/AIDS.

The district secretary of the Presbytery Mr. Andrews Obeng Appiah announced that the leaders of the church were doing all things possible to open more congregations in the district and to win more souls for God.

Mr. Appiah was grateful to the members for supporting the leaders to host the Regional Conference at Nkoranza this year.
