Conference to determine date of Ramadan Fast

Accra Aug. 26 GNA – The 11th Annual National Ramadan Conference, which would determine the commencement of this year’s Ramadan fast, would be held at the Abossey Okai Central Mosque from September 17 to September 18.

A statement signed by Hajj Mustapha Yahya, Executive Secretary for the Chief Imam, Sheikh Usman Nuhu Sharubutu in Accra mentioned Regional Imams, Chief Imams and Regional Hilal Committee members as participants. The statement urged all regional and district delegates, who would attend the conference, to go for their accreditation and briefing at the Central Mosque on September 16.

It said a National Planning Committee had been set up by the Office of the National Chief Imam to raise funds and mobilise personnel towards the welfare of the delegates.

“In line with established practice and time constraint, sub-committees on welfare, security, fundraising, health and media have been formed to expedite work on the conference,” it said. The National Chief Imam, the statement said, appealed to Muslims, organisations, and individuals to donate in cash and in kind to support the conference.
