Youth Association appeals for electricity supply

Nsakinaa (GA/R), Aug. 23, GNA – Mr Isaac Quaye, Secretary to Nsakinaa Youth Association has appealed to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to assist them tap electricity power from Oduman about 1.2 kilometres to the town.

He said the people of Nsakinaa in the Greater Accra Region led by their Youth Association have erected 70 low-tension poles at the cost of 140 million cedis.

Conducting the Ghana News Agency (GNA) round the project at the weekend, Mr Quaye said the project was initiated five years ago and it was undertaken through communal labour with some support from the Ga District Assembly.

He said the provision of electricity power to the town would create job opportunities, such as small-scale businesses to the people, while it would also help curb the rural-urban drift by the youth. Nii Tetteh Kofi Quaye, Mankralo and opinion leader of Nsakinaa commended the youth for their communal spirit in carrying out the project.

He appealed to the Ga District Assembly to help the community complete its JSS block and also regravel the 10-kilometre road linking Awoshie to the town for easy transportation of food items from the area.
