Mankattah walks out of IEA public forum

A public forum organized by the Institute of Economic Affairs for the contestants in the Odododiodio bye-election ended abruptly after the NPP candidate Lennox Mankata walked out of the event.

The town hall meeting, which was well attended, provided a platform for the candidates to outline their development programs for the constituency. Each candidate was offered six minutes in the local dialect, Ga and a three-minute wrap in English.

But jeers and cheers midway through his presentation in the local dialect drowned his address, and with the urging on of his supporters, Lennox Mankata walked out of forum.

The Member of Parliament for Ablekuma, Theresa Tagoe justified the decision of the NPP candidate.

?When the opponents were talking he sat down quietly. Our people were mute And if you did not see, the NDC candidate raised his hand then somebody from the side saw the assemblymen and they started, look at the many times that they disrupted him, he had to wait and the thing is timed and so they were wasting his minutes, hours and seconds. You saw the scene, it would have been just impossible for him to talk,? she said.

The IEA subsequently called off the event.
