Cape Coast Wala community installs Imam

Cape Coast, Aug 15, GNA – Alhaji Zakari Slimba, a 62-year-old proprietor of the Adisadel English/Arabic School, has been installed as the Imam of the Wala community in Cape Coast. Sheikh Abubakari Hassan, Central Region Chief Imam, swore him in on Saturday and urged the new Imam to uphold the tenets of Islam in the discharge of his duties.

He said Islam is a religion of peace and appealed to Moslems to cooperate with Christians to promote peace in the society. Alhaji Dawuda Jango, the Central Regional Director of Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), said Islam enjoins Moslems to be truthful, trustworthy, humble, kind and generous.

Alhaji Zakari Slimba thanked the Wala community for the honour done him and promised to live up to expectation. 15 Aug 05
