Four men conspire to exhume a corpse

Cape Coast, Aug. 15, GNA-Four men who allegedly conspired to exhume a corpse, were on Monday granted a total of 40 million cedis bail with a surety each to be justified by a circuit at Cape Coast.

Ebo Edu Asamoah, a 75-year old farmer and nephew of the deceased, George Sarpong Sakyi, 55 corn miller, Richard Oduro, 50 security man and Fred Opoku Sakyi 52, chemical seller, pleaded not guilty to conspiracy and preparing to commit crime.

They were granted 10 million cedis bail each to re-appear on August 29.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Hope Azasoo told the court, presided over by Mr. Mustapha Logoh that the complainant is a trader and wife of one Mr. Kingsley Yeboah, who died in May 2001, and was buried at the Asokyeano cemetery, near Cape Coast.

He alleged that sometime this year, Asamoah who is a nephew of the deceased, met with the other accused persons and planned to exhume the body of his late uncle.

Inspector Azasoo said that in furtherance this, they managed to secure a death certificate in the name of the late Mr Yeboah from the Cape Coast municipal assembly on July 22 this year. He said the complainant however, got wind of the accused persons’ intended action and reported the matter to the police and during investigations, it came to light that the four men had intended to exhume Mr Yeboah’s body. 15 Aug. 05
