MP spends 50 million cedis on the rehabilitation of JSS

Akrofuom (Ash), Aug. 14, GNA- The Member of Parliament (MP) for Akrofuom, Mr Kwabena Appiah-Pinkrah has so far released 50 million cedis of his share of the MP’s common fund for the rehabilitation of the Akrofuom Methodist Junior Secondary School (JSS).

Part of the amount was used to re-roof the entire school building and to purchase 100 bags of cement, three trips of sand and boards for the work.

Mr Appiah-Pinkrah announced these when he and the assemblyman for the area, Mr Maurice Jonas Woode took newsmen to inspect the rehabilitation works.

The MP said another 180 million cedis would be needed to complete the project, which would include the construction of a library and a place of convenience.

Mr Appiah-Pinkrah said: “We expect to be supported to give the school an office, library, masters’ common hall and a place of convenience” He said he would provide additional funds for the replacement of doors, windows and ceiling of the school block, adding, “all the necessary rehabilitation works will be done to change the structure into a modern school”. Mr Appiah-Pinkrah said even though he was contributing to the development of education in the area, he would also work hard to improve health delivery.

Mr Woode said the MP had so far spent more than 100 million cedis towards a number projects in the constituency. The amount, he said, was used to purchase 10 packets of roofing sheets to Akrofuom Catholic JSS, 100 bags of cement for the school’s computer laboratory project, a computer and printer and a manual typewriter to the area council and the Akrofuom Secondary/Technical School.

Mr Woode commended the MP for sponsoring pupils and students in the area to visit Parliament, seat of government, the Osu Castle, and other places of political and historical importance in Accra, the nation’s capital, as a way of broadening their horizon of knowledge.
