TEIN of KNUST NDC commend Walid Laryea

Kumasi, Aug. 14, GNA – The Tertiary Institution Network (TEIN) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has described the decision of Mr Walid Laryea to withdraw from contesting the Odododioodo bye-elections as prudent and worthy of commendation.

Members of the TEIN said the decision was indicative of Mr Laryea’s loyalty and commitment to enhancement of peace, unity and progress of the party.

The commendation was contained in a statement issued by the TEIN in Kumasi on Sunday and jointly signed by Mr. Hamidu Mohammed and Mr. Kennedy Osei, chairman and secretary respectively.

While lauding him for his bold decision, the TEIN also entreated Mr. Laryea to ignore all criticisms from his foes and genuinely rally behind the NDC candidate to help the party retain the seat. The statement also called on the national executives and the constituency executives not to be complacent but to strategise and come out with powerful campaign programmes that would have the capacity to repel any kind of rigging from the ruling party.

“We also advise all party members, especially the national executives and opinion leaders to forge for prevalence of unity within their fold and the fold of the party faithful so as to ensure a resounding victory,” the statement added.

The TEIN members said the work towards absolute unity was crucial since the inability of the party to dislodge the NPP in the 2004 general elections was a result of in-fighting and disunity in the party.
