Ejisu-Juaben District Assembly confirms DCE

Ejisu (Ash), Aug 12, GNA – The Ejisu-Juaben District Assembly on Friday confirmed Mr Yaw Ahenkora Afrifa, the President’s nominee as the District Chief Executive for the area.

In an election conducted by the Electoral Commission (EC), he polled 45 out of the 56 votes cast under very cordial atmosphere. Speaking after the poll, Mr Sampson Kwaku Boafo, Ashanti Regional Minister, advised the DCE to work in close harmony with the assembly members so as to move the district forward.

He expressed appreciation to the assembly members for making the poll very peaceful and orderly and asked the DCE not to witch-hunt for those who did not vote for him but unite all the members for the peaceful development of the district.

In his acceptance speech, Mr Afrifa thanked the President for nominating him and the assembly members for the confidence reposed in him by approving of his nomination.

He promised to work harder than before to develop the district and therefore called for co-operation from all members of the assembly. Present were Madam Fatimata Legma, Central-Northern Region Minister in Burkina Faso, who led a 30-man delegation on a visit to the Ashanti Region and Mr Akwasi Osei Agyei, Deputy Foreign Minister and Member of Parliament (MP) for the area.
