Palm-wine taper fined cedis for causing harm

Twifo-Praso (C/R), Aug 12, GNA – Ebenezer Appiah, a 27-year old palm-wine taper from Ekumfi-Dunkwa was on Thursday fined six million cedis for inflicting cutlass wounds on a co-worker.

Appiah pleaded guilty before a magistrate’s court to causing harm and will go to prison for four years in default.

The case for the prosecution was that Appiah and the victim, one Mr Kwabena Agyei, are both employees of a distillery company at ‘Camp Number One’ near Twifo-Praso.

Last Sunday a co-worker, who was travelling, left some money with Appiah to share with Mr Agyei but Appiah kept the money. Mr Agyei confronted Appiah but this generated into a fight during which Appiah picked up a cutlass and inflicted severe wounds on Mr Agyei’s head.
