GETFund commended for supporting private schools

Mankessim, Aug. 6, GNA – The Reverend Richard Avevor, Proprietor of the Rhema International School at Mankessim, has commended the management of the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) for its decision to extend support to private schools.

Rev. Avevor, a pastor of the Rhema Word Evangelistic Ministry, said the decision would remove the injustice in the education system, make fees more affordable in private schools and improve standards. “The fact that private schools provide about 30 per cent of the nation’s education requirements can not be swept under the carpet”, he stated and added that the problems of managing private schools especially outside the cities would be reduced.

Rev. Avevor made the commendation when he spoke to the GNA at the School’s fourth graduation and Open Day at Mankessim on Thursday. The theme for the celebration was: “No substitute to education”. Speaking on the theme: Mr Anthony Obbin, an Assistant Director in charge of Finance and Administration at the Mfantseman District Directorate of the Ghana Education Service said without formal education one lacked certain qualities that made life complete. Mr Obbin advised students to take their studies seriously to make the investment in their education worthwhile.

Master Evans Dadzie, Senior Prefect, appealed to parents to pay the fee of their children promptly and also provide them with their basic needs to enable them to concentrate on their studies.
