ARSRC congratulates MOE and GES for successful conduct of SSSCE

Kumasi, Aug 04, GNA – The Ashanti Regional Students Representative Council (ARSRC) has congratulated the Ministry of Education and Sports, the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the West Africa Examination council (WAEC) for the successful conduct of this year’s Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE). A statement issued in Kumasi and signed by Chief Abdul Moomen, Regional Co-ordinator of the Council, said over the years the conduct of examinations at all levels of education and the attendant problems had attracted public outcry.

Teachers, parents, governments and the general public, the statement said, have all expressed concerns about examination leakages that had characterised the conduct of examinations especially the SSSCE. ”At a time when we seek to breath a some fresh air into our educational system in order not to produce half backed graduates, it is refreshing to learn that the conduct of this year’s SSSCE has been held without any major hitches.” It said as much as it did not want to praise the conduct of this year’s examination so early, it, however, believed that the praise must be given to whom it was due.

The statement congratulated the leadership of all bodies concerned with the conduct of the examination for the fair and serene atmosphere in which this year’s SSSCE was held. It expressed the hope that as student leaders, this achievement was not going to be a nine-day wonder but would ensure that all subsequent examinations would be conducted in similar manner and also congratulated the media for serving as watchdogs during the examination.
