Farmer jailed 18 years for defilement

Aflao, Aug 03, GNA – A farmer aged 42 was sentenced to 18 years in prison on Wednesday by the circuit court at Aflao for defiling a 14 year-old basic school pupil.

Ebenezer Apealete was sentenced on his own plea. Police Inspector George Bedzra told the court that on July 27 the victim threw up after taking boiled rice and beans that Apealete gave her.

Her father suspected foul play and informed the police who issued her with a medical form.

Doctors detected during treatment that the girl had been sexually known a number of times and when questioned she mentioned Apealete as having had sex with her in May and again on July 20.
