Poverty alleviation loan defaulters risk exposure – DCE

Winneba, July 27, GNA – Poverty alleviation loans defaulters in the Awutu-Effutu-Senya District have been advised to repay or risk exposure through the media.

Additionally, persons who had benefited from the scheme would no longer be considered for further financial assistance. The move forms part of measures initiated by the District Assembly to recover more than 600 million cedis owed by defaulters under the scheme.

Mr Solomon Kwarshie Abbam-Quaye, District Chief Executive (DCE), announced these when he addressed members of the Assembly at Winneba on Tuesday.

The meeting afforded Mr Abbam-Quaye the opportunity to outline his vision for the District.

He said a mechanism had been devised to remove names of defaulters from the list of future applicants who might apply for financial assistance from the scheme.

Mr Abbam-Quaye reiterated that the scheme was a revolving one and not a gift to people who needed financial support. They must therefore strive to repay the loans granted them to sustain the scheme, he added. 28 July 05
