Kwahu South District Assembly confirms president’s nominee

Mpraeso (E/R), July 26, GNA- The Kwahu South District Assembly had confirmed the president’s nominee, Nana Kofi Onwona Asante, a 59-year-old architect as the District Chief Executive for Kwahu South. Thirty-eight out of the 51 Assembly Members present, representing 74.5 percent voted for him while 13 voted against him at an emergency meeting of the assembly at Mpraeso on Monday.

He was sworn into office by the Mpraeso Circuit Court Judge, Mr Kwabena Essuman-Adu after an election conducted by the Eastern Regional Electoral Officer, Mr Samuel Ntow.

Addressing the assembly, the Eastern Regional Minister, Mr Yaw Barimah urged the assembly and the people in the district to bury their differences and give the elected DCE the needed support and co-operation to enhance the development of the district.

He commended the out-going DCE, Mr. Raymond Osafo-Gyan for working hard to initiate a number of development projects in the communities. Nana Onwona Asante commended the President and the Assembly members for the confidence reposed in him and urged them to accord him the needed support to move the district forward.

He said he will ensure open administration and urged the assembly members and other individuals to present their problems and suggestions to him for the development of the district.

Mr. Osafo-Gyan urged the assembly members to give the same co-operation and support accorded him for the past four years to the new DCE to ensure peace and development in the district.
