Escape convict gets two more years

Asamankese (E/R), July 25, GNA- Kwadwo Sumaila, who escaped from police custody, while waiting to be conveyed to serve a seven-year jail, had been sentenced to two more years by the Asamankese Circuit Court. Sumaila, who was sentenced for defilement, was being held by the Akwatia police when he escaped from the police cells. He went into hiding for 47 days before being re-arrested at Osorase by a concerned citizen, who handed him over to the police. The convict was therefore re-arraigned for escaping from lawful custody and was sentenced to two-year-jail term, bringing the total sentence to nine.

After the second sentence, the police immediately whisked him to the Nsawam Prisons to prevent a second escape.
