President Jerry John Rawlings today swore-in Dr. Tony Aidoo as Deputy Minister of Defence and urged him to give off his best. Dr Aidoo swore the oath of allegiance, the official oath and the oath of secrecy after which the President congratulated him and handed him his parchment of office.

Mr Nathan Quao, an Adviser to the President, told Dr Aidoo that now that he was “entering a new environment he should be tactful, patient and tolerant.” “Continue to be guarded by your convictions but you need to be patient and tactful.”

Alhaji Mumuni Bawumia, Council of State Member, appealed to Dr Aidoo to be steadfast in his principles and should not to allow himself to be cowed by “comments from people who have developed negative minds.” Dr Aidoo pledged to discharge his responsibilities to the best of his ability.
