Burkinabe on 60 million cedi bail for stealing

Tema, July 20, GNA – A 30-year-old Burkinabe, resident in Ghana, has been granted 60 million cedis bail with one surety to be justified by the Tema Circuit Court ‘B’ for allegedly stealing over 39 million cedis belonging to the Burkina Faso Chamber of Commerce.

The accused, Yameogo Ishmeal, pleaded not guilty to stealing and would re-appear before the court on July 27, this year.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Matilda Tetteh told the court presided over by Mr Charles Asiedu that, the complainant was a representative of the Burkina Faso Chamber of Commerce in Ghana, whiles the accused worked for the Chamber.

She said on July 8, this year, the complainant detected that Ishmeal had used some fake invoice to steal CFA 2.455 million an equivalent of 39.440 million cedis from the Chamber. A report was then made to the Regional CID and the accused was arrested.

A search on him produced the fake invoice and the stamps of the Chamber in his room. 20 July 05
