KNUST Hospital gets ambulance

Kumasi, July 12, GNA – Professor Kwesi Andam, Vice Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), on Tuesday inaugurated an 80,000-dollar ambulance donated by the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETfund) to the University Hospital.

The ceremony coincided with the commissioning of the refurbished Male Ward of the Hospital financed by the University at the cost of 555 million cedis and the donation of assorted library books worth 200 million cedis by the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA). Speaking at the ceremony, Professor Andam said plans were far advanced to construct a Teaching Hospital for the University. He said the ambulance would help in emergency services and thanked the GETfund for the gesture.

Professor Andam also thanked ADRA for the books, which he said would help stock the University’s library to augment its efforts at providing quality education to the students.

Professor Daniel Obuor, Provost of the College of Arts and Social Sciences of KNUST, who presented the books on behalf of ADRA, said the organization recognized the importance of libraries in the educational sector and said the books would help stock the libraries to improve learning at the University.

Mrs Helena Asamoah-Hassan, KNUST Librarian, said the donation of the 110 boxes of books on various subjects was the second by ADRA and pledged to use them to benefit the students.
