Scrap dealer remanded for stealing

Akim Swedru, July 12, GNA – Mustapha Gariba, a 17-year-old scrap dealer, was on Monday remanded by the Akim Swedru District Court for allegedly stealing an aluminum pot and a knapsack sprayer valued at 2.2 million cedis.

Gariba, who pleaded not guilty to two counts of unlawful entry and stealing, would re-appear July 28.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Appiah Korang, told the court presided over by Mr Edward Kwame Bosompem Apenkwah that, on July 7, Gariba entered the complainant Mr Kwame Adjei’s house at Akim Manso and stole the items.

He said luck, however, eluded the accused as when he was about to convey his booty away the complainant met him at the entrance of the house and confronted him.

The prosecution said the accused, who could not offer any explanation, was apprehended and escorted to the local police station together with the items.
