First Lady donates to hospitalised teacher

Sekondi, July 8, -GNA – Mrs Theresa Kufuor, the First Lady, on Thursday presented a cash of two million cedis to Miss Animah Abdulai, a teacher of Tikobo Number One District Council (D/C) Primary School, whose hands were severed by a male colleague of the school. Madam Sophia Horner-Sam, Deputy Western Regional Minister, made the presentation on behalf of the First Lady at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital where Miss Abdulai is on admission at Sekondi.

Madam Horner-Sam expressed the sympathy of the First Lady to Miss Abdulai and wished her speedy recovery, saying the donation is to help her meet the cost of treatment at the hospital.

She advised Miss Abdulai not be discouraged by what had happened to her and endeavour to “Get on with her life” when discharged from the hospital.

Miss Abdulai thanked the First Lady for her well wishes and used the occasion to advise young girls to be careful about entering into “love affairs”.

On June 22 this year, Clement Koffi Andwi-Aka, a teacher of Tikobo Number D/C Primary School who intended to marry Miss Abdulai severed her hands with a sharp cutlass when he discovered that she was having an affair with a National Service Personnel who was teaching at the school. Andwi-Aka also inflicted wounds on the Service Personnel, Innocent Kebir, who later died on admission at the Half Assini Government Hospital.
