Armed robbers strike again

Nsawam, July 8, GNA – Four persons from Owuraku near Nsawam, who were attacked by armed robbers on Thursday have been admitted at the Nsawam Government Hospital.

The victims, who sustained various degrees of injuries inflicted by six armed robbers are Otu Acheampong, trader, Seth Adda, carpenter, Isaac Laryea Sowah and Goda Williams, both farmers.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Nsawam, Ernest Maayeb said the armed robbers, using guns and dangerous weapons attacked the victims around 0130 hours, when they were asleep.

DSP Maayeb said some of the robbers were in masks and raided the victims’ houses.

He said, he led a team of policemen to the place but before they could reach there the robbers had bolted away with their booties. He said the police found bullet shells around and collected them for investigations and that a special anti-robbery squad from Accra have been called upon to assist the Nsawam Police.

During a visit to the victims at the Nsawam Government Hospital, Dr. Albert Benneth, Senior Medical Officer in-charge appealed to churches and organisations to donate blood to the hospital to enable it to cater for accident victims and other emergency cases.
