Drivers contribute to rehabilitate roads

Nkoranza (B/A), July 06, GNA – Members of Kranka, Sikaa and Baafi branch of Nkoranza Progressive Transport Owners Association are spending about four million cedis to rehabilitate feeder roads in their areas. They have hired tipper trucks to convey gravels and have engaged the youth to fill potholes.

Mr Bismark Ankomako, Chairman of the association, told Ghana News Agency in an interview at Nkoranza that but for the exercise, the current rains would have rendered roads linking the communities to the marketing centres impassable.

He said the association had spent 1.5 million cedis on the Kranka-Sikaa-Pinihe road and members were paying special levies to generate more funds for work on the Kranka-Baafi-Tanoboase feeder road. “Taxi cab drivers are contributing 30,000 cedis each while Urvan and 207 Benz bus drivers are also contributing 50,000 cedis,” Mr Ankomako said.
