MP presents relief items to disaster victims

Bompata (Ash.), July 4, GNA – Mrs Gifty Ohene-Kondau, a Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, has presented relief items in support of victims of a recent rainstorm that struck Bompata in the Asante-Akim South Constituency.

The items include 45 pieces of plywood, 300 bags of cement, 50 boxes of nails and 42 bundles of roofing sheets.

The storm caused extensive damage to the Bompata Presbyterian Secondary School buildings, the local primary school and houses of several individuals.

Mrs Ohene-Konadu, who is also Member of Parliament for Asante-Akim South, commended Spacefon, GHACEM, Ferotal, Laminex, Aluworks and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for donating the items. She promised to solicit more assistance for the victims and appealed to other organisations to donate building materials to enable the people rehabilitate their houses.

Nana Asante Abu, the Krontihene who received the items, thanked the donors for their assistance adding, “This is certainly going to give some comfort to the victims”.
