Ms Jemima Amoah, a 16-year old Ghanaian graduate of the Burlington Danes Church of England School in London has been honoured with the Cynthia Amos Memorial Award for literacy.
She was presented with a commemorative shield and a certificate. The presentation was made by Mr. Michael Wheeler, Headmaster of the Burlington Danes Church of England School at this year?s Certificate Day.
The honour was in recognition of her exceptional abilities which enabled her to adapt quickly to her new school and successfully completing the General Certificate of School Education course after joining the school last year.
A former student of Tom Ridge Junior Secondary School in Takoradi, Ms Amoah hopes to pursue further education at William Morris Academy in Hammersmith next September.
Speaking during a courtesy call on Mr. Isaac Osei, Ghana?s High Commissioner to show off her plague and certificate, Ms. Amoah said she was inspired by her dream to train as a professional nurse.
The High Commissioner urged Ms. Amoah not to rest on her oars but should persevere and work harder in order to achieve her vision.
Cynthia Amos was Deputy Head teacher and an English teacher at Burlington Danes in the 1990s.
