Sunyani assembly endorses president’s nominee

Sunyani, June 27, GNA – A bottle of champagne was popped while Mr Kwame Twumasi-Awuah was smeared with powder soon after officials of the Electoral Commission announced his confirmation as the new Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive.

Mr Twumasi-Awuah had 63 out of the 64 members voting for him, representing 98.4 per cent of votes cast. Mr Baffour-Awuah, the immediate past MCE, said the overwhelming decision by members to approve the President’s nominee proved that he left “a clean sheet” as the former MCE of Sunyani and appealed to the assembly to support him.

Mr Twumasi-Awuah, a Sunyani-based legal practitioner, promised to operate an open door policy administration. He urged the people in the municipality to collaborate with him for the development of the area and that he was prepared to continue with the sanitation, education, water and other projects started by his predecessor.
