Mamfe-Akuapem (E/R), June 24, GNA – The Women’s Ministry of the Mount Horeb Prayer Centre, has presented items worth 8.5 millions cedis to the Akropong School for the Blind ,as part of its 12th Anniversary celebration, The items, which were presented on Friday included rice, cooking oil, bread, detergents, key soaps, Omo and used clothing.

The Deputy Eastern Regional Minister, Ms Susana Mensah, speaking at Mamfe, advised the women not to forgo their responsibility to their children, because their husbands have neglected them. She said, as women, they were to protect and train their children in order to check the incident of arm robbery, corruption, prostitution and other social vices, which she said was destroying the youth.

Ms Mensah advised them to accept whatever happens to them as the will of God but not to always attribute it to witches and urged them to live as true Christian women to avoid being infested with the HIV/AIDS disease, since women were more vulnerable.

The International Women’s Director of the Centre, Rev. (Mrs) Anastasia Akoto, urged Christians to help the disadvantage in society by visiting and giving them gifts “in order to bring smiles to their faces”. She said the Centre decided to donate to the school for the blind so that some of its members, who may have heard of the school but could not have the opportunity to meet with the students to appreciate their plight could have that chance. The women also exhibited various kinds of locally prepared dishes and some handicrafts.
