Farmer shoots wife

Suhum, June 24, GNA – A 47-year-old farmer, Yao Halidje, who allegedly shot and killed one Missidji Awadje, 56, at Amanase, near Suhum, for allegedly flirting with his wife was remanded by Suhum Magistrate Court.

The accused, whose plea was not taken, would re-appear on June 30. Police Chief Inspector I. A. Gruah said Halidje and the deceased lived at Amanase and that about a month ago the accused claimed he suspected the deceased to be flirting with the wife, Madam Mary Korkor. The court, presided over by Mar M.L. Assandoh, was told that the accused reported the case to the Ewe chief at Amanase and when the chief asked if he could prove his case at an arbitration, he answered in the negative.

Chief Inspector Gruah said on June 8, the deceased left the house early morning to his farm and at about 0900 hours when his wife sent food to him she saw the husband lying dead in a pool of blood.
