Confirm DCEs to seed up development – Assemblymembers told

Dunkwa-On-Offin (C/R), June 15, The Deputy Central Regional Minister, Nana Ato Arthur on Tuesday called on assembly members in the region to approve the President’s nominees for the post of District Chief Executives to move the region forward in development. He said the region has a lot of development problems, including poverty which must be tackled but that could not be done without substantive DCEs at the various districts.

Nana Arthur, who was addressing the Upper Denkyire District Assembly at Dunkwa-On-Offin reminded the assembly members that many development programmes had become stalled for five to six months because there were no substantive DCEs.

He said the time had come for the people in the region to be united and fight against poverty and other development challenges instead of fighting amongst themselves.

“Central Region should now fight against poverty and other problems and not amongst themselves,” the Deputy Minister stressed. Nana Arthur therefore, appealed to the assembly members to unite and vote to confirm Mr Richard Anane Adabor, the President’s nominee for the district.

“Other assembly members in other districts in the region have confirmed their DCEs and so you too should follow suit. I want to appeal to you to pass the DCE because we have to move the region forward.” The Deputy Minister added, “we cannot wait anymore. Let us leave this assembly hall laughing that Upper Denkyire has joined the chorus.” Nana Arthur reminded assembly members in the region about the importance of ensuring a united and concerted region. Mr Adabor, the acting DCE said due to unity of purpose, the assembly during the past four year was able to complete over 80 development projects including 31 schools and five clinics. 15 June 05
