Suame MP donates items to Bremang community

Kumasi, June 6, GNA – Mr Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu, Member of Parliament (MP) for Suame, has donated five million cedis and some building materials worth 31 million cedis to the people of Bremang in the Kumasi metropolis.

The building materials included cement, nails, boards and planks, roofing sheets and a quantity of paint.

The items were to support the construction of market in the town. Mr Mensah-Bonsu presenting the items on Monday said it was his desire and duty to support the development of his constituency. He also said he had supported the construction of two bridges at Maakro and Old Suame with building materials costing nearly 40 million cedis.

The MP further said he had already supported the construction of a block of six classrooms for the Kronum M/A Primary School with 10 million cedis.

Mr Mensah-Bonsu appealed to the people to make judicious use of the money and the items to ensure the early completion of the market. Nana Agyei Peprah II, chief of Bremang who received the items promised to make judicious use of them. He appealed to the MP to support them construct bridges in the town to make the area more accessible.

Miss Agatha Abrafi, Assembly member for the area said the market, which started in 2003 at the cost of 3.6 billion cedis would have facilities for 50 lockable stalls, 140 sheds and a slaughter house. She said the project was being financed through the contributions of the people and that so far 1.9 billion cedis had been spent on it. The Assembly member expressed concern about the deplorable environmental sanitation in the town as a result of heaping of refuse and urged the MP and the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) to assist in removing the refuse.
