Teachers facing hostility to be transferred

Asekye-Krukese (B/A), June 3, GNA – Mr Kwabena Agyemang-Badu, Nkoranza District Director of Education, has warned that he would transfer teachers from communities that would be hostile to them. He was addressing a cross-section of the inhabitants of Asekye-Krukese, near Nkoranza during a visit occasioned by reports that some youth in the town have been harassing teachers of the local Presbyterian Primary School.

Mr Agyemang-Badu expressed regret that unscrupulous youths took the law into their own hands and misbehaved towards teachers and said he would ensure that any such culprits were arrested and arraigned before courts.

He called on School Management Committees and PTA Executives to regularly interact with school authorities to plan for the improvement of the educational institutions.

Mr Agyemang-Badu also said: “Assembly Members, Traditional Rulers and Unit Committees should acknowledge that schools are the properties of communities and every effort must therefore be made to ensure a cordial working relationship between teachers and parents”, the District Director added.

Mr Adu Yeboah, Head teacher of the school, led his staff to report a misdemeanour by one Maxwell Danso, a resident of the town, to the District Director of Education.

Danso was alleged to have led two policemen and Fire Service personnel from Nkoranza to conduct a search in the room of a teacher in the town, Mr Daniel Ampofo, without authority.

Danso was said to have reported one Kofi Gabriel, a co-tenant of the teacher to the Police for his arrest over a misunderstanding between him and Gabriel.

When the police did not meet the co-tenant, Danso led the Police and the fireman to Mr Ampofo’s room.

Mr Ampofo informed the head teacher about the case and it was referred to the District Director who reported it the Police.
