Techiman South MP disburses 54.5 million cedis for projects

Techiman (B/A), June 2, GNA- Mr Addai Simon, Member of Parliament (MP) for Techiman South has disbursed 54.5 million cedis to 11 communities in his constituency for development projects. Anomatoa received 2.5 million cedis for the purchase of roofing sheets for a school project, Forikrom and Nkwanta had six million cedis each in support of their electrification projects, while Takofiano, Baamiri, Konimase and Kenten also received six million cedis each for the construction of markets.

Nsuta had seven million cedis for the rehabilitation of a toilet, Twimia received two million cedis to mitigate the effects of a rainstorm disaster, four million cedis for the erection of iron poles and net for the Zongo Local Authority School Park while Tanoso the Integrated Centre for Community Employable Skills (ICCES) had three million cedis for the purchase of tables and chairs for teachers and sports equipment.

Mr Simon said the monies, being part of his share of the Common Fund, was in response to an appeal made by the communities during his campaign tour in the run-up to the 2004 election.

He said emphasis would be on educational development and urged communities to embark on meaningful development projects for improvement in their lives.

Mr Simon urged parents to send their children to school to reciprocate the assistance from individuals and organisations to schools in the municipality and advised the beneficiary communities to use the materials for the intended purposes.

The MP urged unit committees to live up to expectation and to co-operate with the authorities to develop the municipality. 2 June 05
