Maintain Govt Bungalows – Hackman

Tamale, June 2, GNA – Mr Hackman Owusu- Agyeman, Minister of Works and Housing, on Wednesday called on occupants of Government bungalows to adopt the culture of maintaining such facilities to prolong their life span.

He said periodic maintenance of the buildings would safe the government the huge investments in renovating them.

The Minister made the call during a courtesy call on the Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Abubakar Saddique Boniface in Tamale on Wednesday as part of his official visit to the area. The two sector deputy ministers, Mr Issah Ketekewu and Mrs Cecilia Dapaah and Mr Wise Amatefe, a consultant at the Ministry, accompanied him.

Alhaji Boniface, appealed to the Minister to address the accommodation problems facing workers in the public sector. He said the poor sanitation and drainage systems in the Tamale Metropolis also needed urgent attention.

Mr Agyeman later inspected the 62 billion cedis Tamale Storm Water Drainage Project being executed by Arab Contractors and expressed satisfaction about the extent of work.

The contractors said the work was 90 per cent complete. The Minister advised land developers not to build closer to drains to limit the harmful effect of floods.
