Driver granted bail for assaulting wife

Cape Coast May 31, GNA – Drama unfolded in a circuit court at Cape Coast on Tuesday when a 39-year-old driver went on his knees in tears when the court ordered him to visit the Ankaful Prisons to see the conditions there and report back to the court.

Nana Nketia, who pleaded not guilty to assaulting his wife, Madam Mamuna Omar, was granted bail of six million cedis with a surety to be justified and is to re-appear on June 21.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Augustine Amonoo told the court that the couple, who have been married for 17 years, had a misunderstanding six months ago and Mamuna left to live with her parents.

On May 15, Nketia in the company of his brother, went to Mamuna’s house and Nketia’s brother asked her why she left her matrimonial home. A quarrel ensued between the couple and Nketia beat her up. She reported the matter to Police and he was arrested.
